Believe it or not, Becky is fully fluent in Spanish, and she worked as a translator in California's Superior Court system for a decade before launching Mil Usos.
She first came across the term mil usos during a preliminary hearing when she was interpreting for a witness. When asked the question, "What do you do for a living?" the witness responded, "I am a mil usos."
In this context, the correct translation would be, "I am a handyman." Mil usos has a double meaning. The direct translation is, "one thousand uses," but in Mexico, it can also mean, "a handyman." You know, the person who comes to your house to fix a thousand different things.
Becky loved how rich, descriptive, and clever this term was, which is why she used it to name the company. Because each product is designed to tackle multiple skin concerns using insanely versatile ingredients, they are "handyman" skincare formulas with a thousand uses, crafted specifically for combat athletes who struggle with sensitive skin.
