Becky and Eric!
Meet Becky!

When I first started dating my husband, Eric, I did what any good girlfriend would do: I peeped his medicine cabinet.

I found an orange prescription bottle for Doxycycline. Doxycycline is an antibiotic used to treat a variety of skin infections, including acne. Eric had been taking it every single day for ten years straight to treat his adult acne.

Maybe you're like Eric. You're a tough-love kind of athlete whose instincts are to go really hard on your skin.

But the same go-hard mentality that works in the gym doesn't work on your skin.

The punishment, however well-intentioned, breaks the skin barrier, which results in more skin trouble.

So, you go harder, and your skin keeps getting worse.

It's a vicious cycle that keeps so many jiu jitsu athletes trapped in uncomfortable skin.

Mil Usos stops the vicious cycle.

STORY TIME!

The story behind the name Mil Usos

Becky is fully fluent in Spanish, and she worked as a translator in California's Superior Court system for a decade before launching Mil Usos.

She first came across the term mil usos during a preliminary hearing when she was interpreting for a witness. When asked the question, "What do you do for a living?" the witness responded, "I am a mil usos."

In this context, the correct translation would be, "I am a handyman." Mil usos has a double meaning. The direct translation is, "one thousand uses," but in Mexico, it can also mean, "a handyman." You know, the person who comes to your house to fix a thousand different things.

Becky loved how rich, descriptive, and clever this term was, which is why she used it to name the company. Because each product is designed to tackle multiple skin concerns using insanely versatile ingredients, they are "handyman" skincare formulas with a thousand uses, crafted specifically for combat athletes who struggle with sensitive skin.
